A Year Has Passed And Another 10,000+ Photos Stored

I'm closing out another year of our blog.  I started this adventure 2 years ago.  Last year I managed to post almost everyday for the entire year.  This year, not so much.  I was lucky to get one up every week!  But that's ok.  I had two very different goals each year and was able to see both of them to fruition.

Last year, I focused on shooting.  Shooting EVERY. DAY. for the sake of picking up my camera and saying I took a shot.  I learned a tremendous amount about my camera in 2010.  It became an extension of my body and shooting in manual mode became natural to me as I entered 2011.

This year, I focused on shooting with PURPOSE!  Not just picking up the camera because I said I would in order to post a photo everyday. Instead, I carefully thought about what I was shooting.  I developed a style and a workflow that works really well for me.  I cleaned up previous years worth of photos and backed them up online, on disc, and on an external hard drive.  I made my photography process as efficient as possible and am really enjoying the art of photography.  I'm looking forward to next year and plan on continuing our blog through 2012.

In closing, I'd like to thank all of you that supported me and my skill building by leaving comments, catching me in the hallways at work, or simply mentioning that you enjoyed reading/viewing posts on the blog.  It kept me motivated and encouraged and I really appreciate it!

With that, here are a few of my favorites from 2011:

  2. If I told you I won the lottery tonight what would you charge me for April's LOVE photo and the featured photo, the last one in April? An autographed one of course...

  3. I am proud of you Leslie. Thank you for sharing your purpose, love, and gratitude with us. Your commitment and determination is more than admirable. Your time and effort reflect beauty in all your hard work. What I really love about you Leslie, is that it only took you a year to realize that photographing everyday for the sake of posting it was not worth the time you had to invest in accomplishing your mission... but had you not stuck to it the camera would have never been able to take form as an extension of your body. Now that you know how to use it, you only use it when you want to... AND YOUR REALLY GOOD at knowing when the time is right! Practice does make perfect! If I wasn't a believer before I met you I am a believer now:)
