Practicing Silhouettes

Trying to come up with something creative every day for 365 days straight is going to be next to impossible for me.  In fact, we are only on day 11 and I struggled to come up with something somewhat interesting.  I thought I would try my hand at shooting a silhouette of some sort.   The only window that still had ample light shining through (at 5:45pm) was in our morning room and it just so happens that my jade plant was the perfect subject.  Overall, the texture, shape, and color was perfect for casting a silhouette.  Maybe not the perfect shot but it's a start.

  1. I was just talking about this yesterday with Monica. Wondering if you will be able to post EVERY single day :) Just repeat " I think I can, I think I can"

    Great photo!

  2. If creativity was easy, everybody would be creative. And they're not. Creativity is also not some inspirational thunderclap that strikes from darkened skies; it's work, constant trial and error, and hours and hours of practice. Gladwell wrote in "Outliers" that it takes 10,000 hours of practice to master a function. You might pick up "The Artist's Way" by Julia Cameron for ideas. Just a thought... Above all, make it fun so you keep coming back. Doing something everyday shouldn't be drudgery. If you don't have that feeling of excitement about doing it everyday, then maybe you've gotten into a rut and you need to branch-out. Hard to do when you're about to have a baby. But think outside the box! Get wacky with it girl!

  3. You're absolutely right. Great perspective and thank you for posting. I know I can post "something" every day. That's not what I'm trying to achieve. I'd like to be more informative, creative, interesting, captivating, etc. as often as possible. My goal isn't just to post something but to post something meaningful. Thanks for the encouragement!!!
